What do I wear to yoga class?
Please wear soft, unrestrictive but not baggy clothing. No shoes allowed. Please do not wear perfume.
Do I need to bring any equipment?
Props are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own.
Can anybody do yoga?
Yes. Adults of all ages and physical conditions are welcome. Please let Jan know about any physical or medical limitations before class.
What props are used in Iyengar Yoga?
Props include sticky mats, yoga bricks, folded blankets, straps, wall ropes, chairs, and bolsters.
Must I sign up for classes, or may I drop in?
You may drop in. Please email Jan a couple of hours ahead of class at jan.lefrancois@converse.edu
Will classes be cancelled during inclement weather?
Cancellations for inclement weather will match those of School District 7.
May I pay with a debit card?
No, nor with a credit card – cash or check only please.
Is talking allowed during class?
If you have an immediate need to ask a question regarding the pose or anything else related to class, you may. Otherwise, please hold other questions and comments until the end of class.
Can I still do yoga if I’m not feeling well?
If you have a fever, please stay at home and rest. Otherwise, yoga can help you feel better if you are feeling under the weather. There are certain restorative poses Jan can help you with.
What is the word stated at the end of class?
“Namaskar,” and it is an Indian greeting.
What does “aum” mean?
The ancient syllable “aum” means all, all interconnected, all in harmony.
